Most public engagement activity in the group is conducted partly under the umbrella of the Wellcome Trust Centre for Cell-Matrix Research. Centre activities include:
- Wellcome to the Matrix, an interactive workshop for Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils from schools across Greter Manchester. Pupils work closely with postgraduate and postdoctoral scientists to learn the importance of cell-matrix research through various hands-on activities, model-building, presentations and laboratory tours. About 100 students per year are hosted during National Science and Engineering Week.
- Matrix goes Public, where interactive stands are set up in the city centre (Manchester Arndale Shopping Centre and Manchester Piccadilly Station) to highlight the value of cell-matrix research and what it means for the public.
- For the Public, a section of the Centre website that highlights public activities.
